What states issues the most speeding tickets?

by Daniel C. Lewis

According to the site Statistic Brain the average annual speeding ticket revenue per Police Officer is $300,000 per year.  That is a lot of tickets being issued.  The annual number of people receiving speeding tickets in the United States is 41 million.  In 2014, over 6 million was paid out in speeding tickets.  The average cost per ticket was $152 dollars.  With some areas of the country moving to using cameras to issue tickets instead of an officer the number of issues tickets could soon jump dramatically.

In order to give you a better understanding of which areas gives the most tickets, here is a list of the top 10 ranked states that you are most likely to receive a citation.

1# Ohio
2# Pennsylvania
 3# New York
 4# California
  5# Texas
     6# Georgia
 7# Virginia
8# North Carolina
9# Massachusetts
10# Connecticut

Sometimes when traveling from one area to another it is difficult to know what the posted speed actually is.  The speed limit could drop dramatically, sometimes without a well visible sign indicating the change.  This could lead to an unsuspecting ticket.

If you do find yourself a victim of receiving a citation and don’t live in the area you are receiving the citation it is probably best to hire an attorney in the area that you received the citation.  Using a program like LegalShield could also save time as well as money.

LegalShield has a network of attorneys across the country that could help you with your citation.

Above all else, be careful out there.
